Chris handles commercial and consumer litigation in various jurisdictions across the country. His expertise includes complex business torts, shareholder and partnership disputes, insurance bad faith actions, and special litigation on behalf of Chapter 11 debtors and trustees. Chris has also handled appeals in the California and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal. He is licensed in California and Nevada.
Represented publicly traded Utah copper mine in largest Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Utah. Handled special litigation in Utah related to a dispute over ownership of the company, which was successfully resolved, allowing the debtor to restructure and emerge from bankruptcy with a market capitalization in excess of $400 million.
Obtained a $6.5 million settlement for a California homeowner in an insurance bad faith action arising out of the insurer’s denial of roof leak claims.
Handled an action for breach of a shareholder’s agreement and fraud against a public Internet company and its founder, chairman and CEO which settled for a total benefit to shareholders of $70 million.
Handled products liability case against Honda, which settled for total benefit to client of $12 million.
Obtained $6 million settlement after trial and pending appeal for publicly traded energy drink company in an action to unwind the rescission of a reverse merger and for monetary damages.
Handled shareholders derivative suit involving military technology, which resulted in confidential cash settlement and issuance of 1.8 million shares of stock.
